Jesus said ” Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in Me. There are many rooms in My Fathers house; I would not tell you this if it were not true. I am going to there to prepare a place for you. After I go and prepare a place for you I will come back and take you to be with me.” John 14:1-3
What an amazing statement of love from our Lord and Savior. Jesus us tell us that not only will he go and prepare a place for us in Heaven, but He and He alone will take us there. We will not be taken home by an angel or servant of the Lord, but by Him. Wow how amazing is that!
Jesus didn’t reprimand his disciples for being anxious about their morality. He just asked for their trust. Death for believers in Christ is not the end but it is a destination. One split second after we draw our last breath we’ll open our eyes at home….in our Fathers house.
We can take comfort in Jesus words on death. He has gone before us, and when we trust in Him and follow Him we don’t have to worry about death, rather trust in His love and His word and go home to the place He prepared for us.
My Pop (Grandfather)passed away this morning, he went Home to the place Jesus has prepared for him. I know this because I have asked him before if he knew the Lord Jesus as his Savior, “yes” he said. For Jesus tells us not only did he go and prepare a place for us but also that no one can go to the Father except through Jesus. I praise you Lord Jesus for dying for our sins, for us all. I pray that you can work through this to draw those who don’t know you as their Lord and Savoir closer to you Lord. I pray for the comfort of those left behind not knowing you Lord, not knowing if they will ever see Pop again. For the only way to Heaven is through the blood of Christ.
Pop I miss you and I am blessed by the time we had you for. Pop and I always joked that we shared the same birthday, because he was in the hospital when I was born and he almost died. I know that he was not the same man when he came out of that, as he was before, I praise you Lord for giving him this blessed thirty seven years, fifteen plus grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
From our Disney trip when I was five, to the fishing trips we had singing “don’t worry be happy”, to the deliveries we made in our little red wagon for the parts store, my wedding day, the birth of my daughter,home coming of daughter and son,and our visits with my children Pop loved hid grand and Great grand children. You where the example I will set for when I am blessed with grandchildren. Until I see you again at Home……
I love you Pop and praise God that we both knew Jesus as our Lord and Savior so we can see each other again.
