Well here we are the new year already underway, where does the time go?
My wife asked me a few weeks ago if I could come up with a word for this year. A word that will represent the direction i would like to go this year. I had many words, phrases running through my mind after she had asked and I prayed for a while and the word(s) that keep being brought to me are from Joshua 1:9
be strong and courageous
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
The word courageous is the word I have chosen. Courageous to be the man I was ment to be. To have the courage to be the leader of my family. “Leadership is not about having expertise or perfection or even public opinion; it’s about courage.” the courage to trust in God , to stand firm in my faith and lead my family in a continuous forward momentum towards the path God has led us.
To be courageous enough to put myself last ,to be the husband and father God has called me to be. To understand that a true leader serves and protects and does not expect to be served. The courage to know that God is always for me and to trust Him. To be courageous enough to ask God to do some gardening on my branches or suckers as my pastor called them today. For God to help lead me to clean my life, to trim the waste that just sucks my ability to do better,so that I can produce even more fruit for Jesus. Like Joshua who was asked to lead the people into the promise land after Moses died we must be strong and courageous. Strong in your faith and courageous enough to seek after it and live by it. So that is my word and with the help of my Lord and my beloved wife I will choose to step out in my faith and aim to be the husband,father and leader that God has planed me to be.
