Courageous

Courageous,
Thats my word of the year. I am coming to realize that it I can not do this alone, to be courageous in my walk with God, to be a courageous leader in my home to be the man, husband and father God calls me to be. It’s going to take more then I have. That’s why I have God and great brothers to go to and fellowship with. In an recent book i am reading ” stepping up” I have learned many lessons that I need to work on, not saying I am horrible at being a husband or father just that these areas need some tweaking. I am coming to know that we all have stages to go through in life boyhood, adolescence, manhood , fatherhood or leadership, and mentor. I feel God speaking to me and pushing me into this direction or new chapter in my life. Leadership and in order to be the great leader I want to be I must first master the roll of the servant. That’s the hard part for me I know very few people ( my wife being one) who can put others first on regular basis. Imagine a world if we all lived like Christ and practiced how can I serve someone today on a regular basis. It would be like Heaven…..
To be the leader in my house and to become the husband and father God calls me to be I need to understand first what He has made me to be, to but Him first and understand that this life is not about me!!!!!! This past weekend I also started a men’s devotional series called gods a war. Wow it’s amazing only through week one of ten and wow really opened my eyes to my walk with God. Are you a believer? Do you break any of Gods commandments? If so all? Well if you understand how Jesus explained them then yes I know I am guilty of breaking them all in my lifetime. How about false idols #2 if you are keeping track. I have learned that although we may not think we are putting idols before God, we do the series asked some tough questions to really think about and answer to see where God ranks in you life.
1. What has left you most disappointed in you life?
2. For what do you sacrifice your time and money?
3. What do you worry about ?
4. Where do you go for comfort?
5. What make you mad?
6. What do you dream of?
7. What encouragement means the most to you?
Based on your responses to the seven questions above; can you come to any preliminary conclusions about what might serve as a functional god in your life?

Now think about that……..
I did and did not like the responses in some of the answers, I know that they are now different from where they where years ago and I now I am headed in the right direction for following God.
As Joshua tells us in chapter 24 we all must serve the Lord our God, but if you don’t you must choose for yourselves today whom will you serve. You may serve the gods that your ancestors worshiped,or serve the gods of our culture we all serve something and as for me and my house we will serve the Lord
This is a constant undertaking to die daily and to live for someone else, we where created to worship something money, realationships, power, status, our children, our spouses, our toys….we just can’t worship two things at once so if I have to chose I chose my Lord and Savior. To follow him couragously …..
I pray for your will not mine Lord to be done as I walk this path with You.
God bless and I leave you with this ….
