Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. This is always a great day for me, my wife and children always spoil me. Being a dad is a blessing for me. Don’t get me wrong some days I want to throttle my kids, but only somedays lol……
Being a dad is not just a biological ability, it’s about fathering them, shepherding them, through out their lives. Being a godly role-model for these children. Wether you have had a great dad to follow growing up or not … There is a role model we can all look to.
A fathers love comes in many forms, I believe that although my father was not always the best role model, he loved us to the best of his ability. He loved us better then he was loved. Did he mess up? Yes but who doesn’t after all the last perfect person to walk this world was Jesus, not my dad. He was a provider hard working, he may. It havre always been on the forefront cheering me on at soccer games, but he provided for us, private school when we where young, toys and games growing up to cars and parts for our cars when we where older. He also has come around to teach me by talking to me and telling me where he knows he messed up and what I should do do be a better father. To admit when you make mistakes and teach your son how not to do it is a hard example to give. That’s one more way to show a fathers love. Some dads have those childhood memories of camping with their dad, fishing with their dad, playing base ball,softball or just tossing the pigskin. I have some of those they are few but I remember building an igloo with my dad way back when we had a lot of snow…. He built us play houses. I feel that he was a better dad then he gives himself credit for. As as my father did I strive to give my children a better father then I had. I have my faults but I pray daily that I can lead my children to Christ and to the path The Lord has for them. Along the way new the best dad I can be.
Among the role models I have in my tool belt of fatherhood besides my dad are my father in law whom has been in my life for almost twenty years now and even to this day is a daily part of our lives. My step father in law who has been on my life for 14 years and many biblical men in my band of brothers that have been a great influence in my lives. I thank God for all of them in my lives and men I thank you for all you have deposited in my life, for all the bits of knowledge to help me in my daily walk as a father.
I pray that God may grant you peace in this Father’s Day, for what ever you are going through in your life. I pray for you fathers and for your child(ren)
