One of the things I have struggled with when starting this business, is that honestly I was ashamed to say I am a coach for beach body. Not that I was embarrassed about beachbody they are great. I was looking at the fact of who would want to be helped by me, a 270 pound overweight young guy ( well ok middle aged guy )? I kept thinking “when I get to my goal weight I could push my business” . Just reach that next step. Then maybe then I could ” sell ” myself as a coach.
I was wrong I had looked at the coaching title as looking like a gym instructor. But it’s more of someone who has gone through a journey that has transformed them into some one on the path to a healthier you!
So Why Beachbody and Shakology? the answer is different for everyone but for me it the support, the workouts and the most important, nutrition with shakology. I think since I hit puberty I have been struggling with weight. I am not crying or looking for a blame it is what it is. I remember leaving school one year in slims and over the summer i was school shopping and getting huskys….
Over the years it was a slow gain then some loss and more gain. Then about 12 years ago, when my beloved and I where expecting our first I could not take it any more. I was disgusted with myself, i was over 300 lbs and looking at a pant size of 42. “How could this happen?!! How did I get here, how can I get out!?” turns out it was pretty easy really, the same way you got it to go on, is the same way you get it to come off, a little at a time. I picked up running, ok a slow jog/walk I signed up for a 10 mile road race and that was it. Over the next five years or so I dropped to fitting in size 36 and lost over 70 lbs. I felt great and loved running, I did 2 half marathons and 1/2 dozen 5k races.
As the years went by and I suffered an injury and an additional job, the running slowly faded and the pounds creeped up on me. Low and behold 2014 I go in for my drs visit and he’s all ” well Jon it looks like you put a little weight on again this year!” Duh! tell me something i don’t know, i told him “hey you should have seen me last month i lost 8 lbs…lol” . He was telling that five years ago i was 233 ( btw was the lowest i have been since ???ummmmm, maybe 10th grade) and now i was 277. “I know i can get down again” I told him. He smiled and liked my enthusiasm! I struggled all this year, in March tried getting into jogging again with my daughter, and ended up with a stress fracture in my heel….seriously, sidelined again.
Fast forward into summer, still no running, remember, stress fracture!!! In July my friend started talking to me about BeachBody. BeachBody I said The P90x insane stuff…umm no thanks!!!. Well he remained constant ( thank you Mike) and in August I ordered my first challenge pack after much resistance about the money, or lack of money, to stay with this. I started PIYO a pilates -Yoga cross and began drinking my shakeology daily….because as I have come to learn nutrition is 75% of getting fit. Now a few short months later I am finished with the PiYo, and on to my second workout, The new P90.
I am excited to see my results in the end of January because this is a 90 day program. When I started in August I weighed in at 271 and had 49″waist, hips and chest measurements, now 60 days later as I begin my training of P90, I weigh in at 243 and 44″waist and hips!! I lost a total of 28 lbs and 16 total inches, people, I literally just lost a small child people, that is huge (pun intended:-)
Now I am not saying that I have gone to classes to become a coach, or earth shattering secrets, but I have learned a few things along the way. As an independent BeachBody coach I have learned I want to help people achieve their goals, to become the best that they can be, and by the Grace of God, I will. As a coach I am here to encourage and help, through challenge groups, personal coaching and tips, and continued contact. I am here to help people along their journey to the newer, healthier, fitter them!!
