And the Winner is…..or Pine car Derby part 3

We had the Big AWANA Grand Prix this past weekend, and it was a blast! Our firth year racing in the race and it was very exciting…I arrived at the Church early to help the ”  Commander” set up with the help of a few other it went very smooth. ( thanks Bill) the closer check-in came I had to tweak the weights on the cars a little and the our check in went smooth, after the poor check in was very crazy and had some problems that with better planning for next year will not happen again. I must say it was I think more exciting and stomach turning for me then the kids while we did the last min. prep, but once the racing began I had to stand back and watch to see if I could back up all the smack talk for the past few weeks… and it turns out I did I was telling all our friends that they would be going D O W N …….at the race and I was right they went down….( it just happens that the down they went was DOWN the track and I will admit a whole lot faster than any of the DuPonte car’s.

Jamie had the Cafe area selling Hot dogs and chips and soda, which I called the Pit Stop. It went rather well and we had a lot of hot dog sales , that was good because all the profits went to help defer the costs of Awana programs

One of the best parts of the race was to see how excited the kids where watching their cars run down the track. After one race Julianna came up running to me pulling on my shirt cheering Daddy Daddy my car just finished fourth can you belive that fourth WOW how cool is that ( a fourth by the way is also known as last..) but hey we did not go out to win it all we had to save something for next year. All in all it was a great day full of fun fellowship and family togetherness, the kids and I got to learn about how its ok not to win as long as we try our best and have fun.

We did end up all getting blue ribbons and Gabes batman car won a Fourth place award for his Batmobile and I took the First Place trophy in the open division for Design for the Spiderman Car. I had a great time not just because of the Trophy but because of the people i was surrounded by I am so glad God called us to this Church and the people here. We are truly blessed to have the fellowship and friendships we have I thank you all and God Bless
